Video Review: BlackVue DR650GW-2CH Dashcam

I get a lot out of video reviews. YouTube is often one of my first stops when I’m shopping around, even for cheap things. So I thought I’d try my hand at it for a product I recently bought, a car dashcam.

I’m reasonably happy with the way it turned out, but man was it hard work. Coming up with 12 minutes of things to say was easy, but having to pair it with 12 minutes of video is insane.

I am thankful for UMD for not only providing the full Adobe Creative Cloud for free, but also free access to with great tutorials on how to use it.

  1. James,

What video editing software did you use for your review and also what did/do you use to render video productions from footage obtained from use of your camera?

I bought this camera after viewing your very well put together review and I’m more than happy with my purchase. Just need a little info if you have it.

  2. Hi James, I have just read your review of the DR650GW and, in view of your opening remarks, I just thought I would let you know that your presentation was very good indeed. It was clear and concise and spoken in steady, easy to listen to, tone, which is a lot more difficult to do than just talking to a person. The video clips of real, on the road use, were very helpful, as were the close ups of the unpacking and the various connections. There is no substitute for seeing the real thing. You have clearly thought out how to present the subject.
I have recently been looking at this camera and the Lukas LK790G. There are so many claims about these dashcams in general, about them being full High Definition when they are in not, that reviews such as yours are very helpful. I now feel a lot happier about spending, what is a fair amount of money, on one of these.
